A Few Reasons And Examples To Pray

Pray for our peers, especially for those who minister the Gospel and pray we will not sin by failing to do so.

. . .Far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord by ceasing to pray for you. . . [1Sa 1:23].

. . .making supplication for all the saints, and also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the Gospel. [Eph 6:18-19].

Pray for our nation; that we will be a people who will return to honor God.

If My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land. [2Ch 7:14].

Pray our hope will be set upon the Lord from the very start of the day.

O Lord, in the morning You hear my voice; in the morning I prepare a sacrifice for You and watch. [Psa 5:3].

Pray for God’s deliverance and for faith to keep our eyes upon Him.

To You they cried and were rescued; in You they trusted and were not put to shame. [Psa 22:5].

Pray we will not be distracted by the false hopes of the world and comforts of this life.

Your face, Lord, do I seek. [Psa 27:8].

Pray our eyes will stay upon the Lord when we are in trouble.

This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him and saved him out of all his troubles. [Psa 34:6].

Pray we will seek God’s purposes in our lives and not be distracted by our own.

I cry out to God Most High, to God who fulfills his purpose for me. [Psa 57:2].

Pray for God’s kingdom and for Christ’s reign to be manifest on earth.

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem! . . . [Psa 122:6].

. . .You who put the Lord in remembrance, take no rest, and give Him no rest until He establishes Jerusalem [Christ’s millenial reign] and makes it a praise in the earth. [Isa 62:6-7].

. . .Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. . . [Mat 6:9-10].

. . .Amen. Come, Lord Jesus! [Rev 22:20].

Pray our confidence will be in the Lord and not in our own strength.

The horse is made ready for the day of battle, but the victory belongs to the Lord. [Pro 21:31].

Pray for God’s rescue; that we will keep our eyes upon Him when we are depressed or distressed.

I called on Your name, O Lord, from the depths of the pit; You heard my plea. . .You came near when I called on You; You said, ‘Do not fear!’ You have taken up my cause, O Lord; You have redeemed my life. [Lam 3:55-58].

Pray the Lord send laborers into the harvest. Pray God will send us among them.

Pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest. [Mat 9:38].

And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here I am! Send me.” [Isa 6:8].

Pray the Lord, we will not be caught off guard and He will keep us from falling into the temptation of our sin.

Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. [Mar 14:38].

Pray the Lord help us to pray according to His will.

Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. And He who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. [Rom 8:26-27].

Pray for God’s protection and deliverance for those who minister in His work and that the Gospel will spread rapidly.

strive together with me in your prayers to God on my behalf, that I may be delivered from the unbelievers in Judea, and that my service for Jerusalem may be acceptable to the saints. [Rom 15:30-31].

Finally, brothers, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may speed ahead and be honored, as happened among you, and that we may be delivered from wicked and evil men. For not all have faith. [2Th 3:1-2].

Pray for the Holy Spirit to give you understanding of the Word.

The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned. [2Co 2:14].

. . .Please show me Your ways, so I may know You and find favor in Your sight. . . [Exo 33:13].

Pray for ourselves and our brothers to know the hope to which we are called and to strengthen our walk with Christ.

. . .that you may know what is the hope to which He has called you, what are the riches of His glorious inheritance in the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of His power toward us who believe. . . [Eph 1:18-19].

that according to the riches of His glory He may grant you to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. . . [Eph 3:16-17].

Pray we will grow in Godly love.

And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment. [Php 1:9].

Pray we will be thankful for our brothers and sisters in Christ and pray they will grow in their walk with Christ.

We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you. . .And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God. [Col 1:3,9-10].

Pray God will use us in encouraging and building up the brothers in their faith and that the name of Christ will be glorified in those who are called.

we pray most earnestly night and day that we may see you face to face and supply what is lacking in your faith. [1Th 3:10].

To this end we always pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of His calling and may fulfill every resolve for good and every work of faith by His power, so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in Him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ. [2Th 1:11-12].

Pray our hearts will be in constant communion with God.

Pray without ceasing. [1Th 5:17].

Pray for government leaders so the Gospel can be proclaimed everywhere.

First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. [1Ti 2:1-4].

Pray God will make us and our brothers active in sharing our faith.

and I pray that the sharing of your faith may become effective for the full knowledge of every good thing that is in us for the sake of Christ. [Phm 1:6].

Pray God will guide our steps so our prayers will not be in vain.

. . .The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working. [Jam 5:16].

For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their prayer. . . [1Pe 3:12].

Pray the Lord we will be diligent in prayer and be thankful.

Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving. [Col 4:2].
