Cominus.com :: Cominus Papers :: God Is Gonna Destroy This Place

In the past, God overlooked mans' ignorance, but now He commands all
people everywhere to repent. For He has set a day when He will judge
the world with justice by the Man, Jesus Christ; the One He has appointed.
He has given proof of this to all men by raising Him from the dead.

God Is Gonna Destroy This Place

Category: Morality Check

Before the debate on stem cell research began, we had already gone too far.

Earlier this month, President Bush, a man of Christian conviction but also a born and bred politician, announced he would not support stem cell experimentation on intact embryos but he would allow research on existing stem cells whose embryos were previously destroyed. The logic being this would not be murder because the embryos are already dead and, furthermore, we should not waste the potential these cells afford us. The problem for those who support this line of reasoning, including many prominent evangelicals, is they do not understand moral law is not argued rationally or logically, it is reasoned by absolutes – God-given absolutes.

Just as God never made degrees of homosexuality, such as monogamous versus promiscuous, He does not allow for experimentation on human life, period. God alone is the Creator of all life and we, His creation continue in His image by bringing forth new life via procreation. There is only one way; a man and a woman who have taken vows before God, enjoy His blessing for bringing new life. That we would confuse our sexuality with promiscuity, adultery, incest, bestiality and homosexuality, is perverted. That we would ever subject unborn human life to a test tube; that we would ever collect and freeze embryos for future fertilization, or experimentation, is perverted. It is perverted because it takes creation from the hand of God and places it in the hand of man. Means, methods and time, contrary to that prescribed by God; the power over life and death is usurped by man. We have already gone too far.

The president was correct in his reasoning that an embryo, whether frozen or not, is life. To extract stem cells is to destroy life. He was incorrect, however, to reason it would be justifiable to experiment on stem cells that are already separated from the embryo. To carry his logic forward is to eliminate the moral issue completely. For, if you can rationalize using these stem cells because they would be destroyed anyway, we can carry that argument to all frozen embryos that are not claimed for fertilization by their “owners.” How long do we preserve unused embryos? And, if we dispose of them, would it not be rational and beneficial to use for research parts that would otherwise be discarded?

Logic will displace morality. Where will the stem cell research lead? What if research requires more stem cells than the president has allowed? What if the research leads to discoveries of potential benefits from aborted babies? What if research proves the need for cloning to benefit from stem cell implantations? We are at a major crossroads in human history, will we accept our position under God, or will we attempt to make man in our own image. As in the days of the Tower of Babel, man will become as God and we will determine our progeny by every means, except by that of God’s design.

Jesus said, “As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.” [Mat 24:37 NIV]. The “days of Noah” was the destruction of the world by flood. He meant everyone went about their lives as usual until the destruction came; there was no crescendo, it happened. Luke recounts this lesson, in chapter seventeen, and adds the example of Sodom. Evil as they were, the people continued as they had the day before, suddenly they were destroyed with fire from heaven. So will it be at the coming of the Son of God, man will go on as he had the days and weeks before, but his destruction will be swift and final. No one will be concerned that the end might be near. My friend, the end is near!

Consider the age before the Flood. Do you suppose man had limited technology? Do you think man lived nine hundred years and more, sitting around complaining about the weeds? Do we think we are so highly evolved and our technology so advanced that their lives pale by comparison? We assume our technology is our own, recent invention and was not derived from previous knowledge and certainly not from God! Ancient technologies fascinate me, how they appeared simple, yet were so far advanced. When I was young, I learned how walls of rock were cut out of mountains and moved great distances by sound. To this day, we do not possess the technology to cut the rock of such mass and to lift and move them. We only recently obtained the ability to move the idols of Easter Island. We do not have the technology to cut into a mountain in such a way that we can stand in it and broadcast our voice for twenty or thirty miles. Recently, I spent some time listening to Dr. Carl Baugh. He described great technologies, including the ability to combine metals we are unable to combine today. The people before the Flood, were not a primitive people. They possessed a vast technology we cannot begin to comprehend.

The first man, Adam, died just a mere hundred twenty-some years before Noah’s birth. Many of his children were still alive when Noah was born! In volume seven, issue one (Jan/Feb 1999), we published an editorial entitled, A Short History of Sin. In that article, we argued, among other things, that God had to destroy the earth because man’s blood was tainted with demonic blood. The contention being Satan used this means to prevent God from bringing salvation through Jesus Christ, the Messiah, as promised in Genesis chapter three verse fifteen. Or, at worst, if God produced the Christ through tainted blood, He would have to extend salvation “to the demons themselves. This would be an abomination that Heaven could not hold.” [vol 7, iss 1, pg 2].

In my youth, I was taught “the sons of God” were the sons of Shem (the good guy) and “the daughters of man” were the daughters of Cain (the bad guy) in Genesis chapter six. Let me tell you why I do not agree with this premise and why I be-lieve our position is credible and offers a warning for today.

The term for “sons of God” in the Old Testament and New Testament differ. In the New Testament, it refers to our relationship with God, for those who believe. In the Old Testament the term refers to God’s created principalities. According to Strong’s Concordance, the word for sons and the word for God are the same in every reference to “sons of God.” In Job 1:6 Satan came to present himself to God at the same time the as the “sons of God.” Similarly in Job 2:1 and in Job 38:7 the “sons of God” rejoiced over the creation of the earth. Now, some want to argue that because “sons of God” is never directly inclusive of the demonic principalities, in this reference they must be the sons of Shem, or the good man; the equivalent to Christians, if you will.

God is holy and He can wipe out mankind for any reason He chooses. However, I fail to understand why God would wipe out the entire population of the world merely because the “Christian” men were intermarrying with the non-Christian women. Conversely, the Bible does not state what the daughters of God were doing. The Bible simply states, “That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.” [Gen 6:2 KJV].

The Bible does not make clear whether it was the mere intermarrying of the good children with the evil, or the perverted intermarrying of man with the demonic that brought His wrath. If it was the demonic blood, we don’t really understand the technologies involved. It is possible the relationship and interaction of man and principalities (including demons) were different before the Flood and the physical union was “naturally” possible. It is possible man was involved with technologies beyond his domain and control and that brought forth the demonic “soup”; maybe similar to stems cells and cloning. I do not understand enough but I am certain, we, like pre-Flood man, have not only rejected God’s laws but have also rejected the dominion God has given us. Rather than procreate in His image, we are determined to bring forth man in our own image.

Will God destroy this place? Consider the time of the Flood when God destroyed the whole world; consider the city of Sodom which practiced the perversion of homosexuality; consider the city of Ninevah which was known as the city of blood. Consider all the nations that are no more. We are told in Ezekiel chapter fourteen, all nations are required to obey God’s laws. Has the rising and falling of nations escaped our attention? We have already gone too far.

“Restore us to Yourself, O LORD, that we may return; renew our days as of old unless You have utterly rejected us and are angry with us beyond measure.” [Lam 5:21-22 NIV].

God save our nation
