The Inauguration: Will We Remember Repentance

This morning, my brother-in-law’s daugter posted on her Facebook page the media has found their new god. The media gushes and the cost of the ceremony and procession will exceed $110 million dollars, a record barring inflation.

Throughout the campaign, Obama continually equated his mission with that of the Messiah and Returning King by spinning the Scriptures. The media gushed and never critcized. The media never attacked him or his family while ripping Sarah Palin and her family to shreds. The people fawned as they watched with rapture hoping to high heaven for the succesful election of this agent of Change.

Just before the election, as if to turn events into Obama’s favor, God sent us failures in the economic markets, the stock market and manufacturing markets. On the one hand, this will limit or delay the new messiah’s ability to bring about his vision of spreading the wealth. On the other hand, God sent America a test: will we look to man or to God. So far, with the bailouts and such, we have chosen to look to man.

The history books portray Franklin Roosevelt as the savior of America, bringing them safely out of the depression with his work programs and such. However, more and more writers and economists have demonstrated that he prolonged the depression by as much as eight years. What he did was make people feel good and gave them hope. They in turn were willing to vote for him for life, even while he enslaved them.

Obama voted for the legislation that created the Financial Meltdown. But he learned well from FDR that the people will not hold you accountable if you make them feel good. And he rode into Washington like a messiah.

Nonetheless, I am going to give him the benefit of the doubt. I will support my new president and I will pray for him daily. I will pray that he will look to God and the Scriptures for direction to lead this people – that he will not rely upon man. I will also pray that God will bring the hearts of the people to repentance and that we will turn to Him.

NOTE: Pray also for the several March For Life events around our nation. Pray that God will open the eyes of the people to the murder of the unborn and that we will repent.

It will be an interesting four years. Will Obama continue to portray himself as the new messiah? Will he continue to spin the Scriptures to suit his campaigns? Will the people look to man? or to God? Meanwhile, the media will continue to gush.

  • Solomon wrote there will be no end of the writing of books. If he lived now, he would decry the endless cacophony of electronic verbiage. Page after page of endless, mindless tripe. People selling something; people saying something. No body reading anything! If the page doesn't have pictures, [click] the viewer is gone. Everyone is looking for entertainment. No one is looking for substance. But we keep on writing and we think someone will read it. Oh, how we deceive ourselves -- convinced of our own immortality. Words, words, words . . . - cominus
