School Squelches Freedom of Speech for Inauguration Day

According to OneNewsNow.com:

Mason, Ohio, school officials sent an email to parents in advance of the presidential inauguration saying, “Inappropriate comments that may make other students, staff or families feel unwelcome or uncomfortable in school or on the bus will not be tolerated.” The story by DaytonDailyNews.com featured examples of negative comments and actions made about the Obama administration after he was elected.

The school’s superintendent Kevin Bright added that even in a competitive election process, “our nation’s greatness is displayed when all sides come together for a united country.”

Political Correctness licenses who we criticize and who we praise. It is okay – and encouraged – to bash President Bush, even if it makes conservatives uncomfortable, even those who believe in proper decorum and respecting our leaders. However, we cannot say anything against, even if it is not bashing, the new President Obama, because that would make the wrong people feel uncomfortable.

We want everyone to be comfortable and united in thought – that is what makes our nation great, isn’t it?

  • Solomon wrote there will be no end of the writing of books. If he lived now, he would decry the endless cacophony of electronic verbiage. Page after page of endless, mindless tripe. People selling something; people saying something. No body reading anything! If the page doesn't have pictures, [click] the viewer is gone. Everyone is looking for entertainment. No one is looking for substance. But we keep on writing and we think someone will read it. Oh, how we deceive ourselves -- convinced of our own immortality. Words, words, words . . . - cominus
