New Leadership in GOP Legislative District Four

rinosWatchFor-decal-glossy-flex-4x4inWell, it is official: last night Legislative District 4 of the Kootenai County GOP elected a democrat (RINO) for chairman. Nominated and promoted by Rick Currie, former commissioner and one of the most liberal members of the party. Congratulate Tom Cronin but don’t expect him to be at the forefront raising the standard for GOP platform principles.

The problem in our local GOP is that the mainstreamers will get anyone into office as long as it is not a Christian who takes their religion and the founding documents of our nation seriously. Barbara Hedden made a good run and would have been one to stand for principle.

Two elections ago, the conservatives in the county GOP have wrested control away from the liberals in all areas except the Leg Dist 4. The previous RINO district chair was largely a place holder (he resigned because he has a state position and cannot have two votes). This new guy is an activist – and a knowledgeable and strategic one at that. Because our central committee chair is weak and the conservatives are content with their prior wins and current majority, I see the tables beginning to turn. Tom Cronin and his cronies will gobble up the central committee in the next two elections, unless the conservatives finally understand central committee is not some club.

While the conservatives are looking for mans’ favor, the liberals are winning the war. Politics is war.

About the author: cominus

Cominus is the pen-name for Dean Isaacson. He was chairman of the Snohomish County Republican Central Committee (Washington) 1990 to 1992. He conducted legal research for the late Supreme Court Justice William C. Goodloe for several years and led Judicial Forum for many years. Now, he is a crazy kinda guy who spends most his time doing cold calls. He plays his harmonica in the truck because people don't want to listen to him practice - but his dog, Miles (black dachshund), loves to sing along. He is passionate about being passionate because everyone is really into passionate these days but tires easily and hides behind emails. His core belief is you will choose to serve God or you will serve the state - tyrants, as William Penn called it.

O Lord, I have heard of your fame and stand in awe of your works. Revive them in our time; even now, make Yourself known - but in Your wrath remember mercy.
