My Prayer Closet (2011)
Under the Tower of Babel (1995)
Solomon wrote there will be no end of the writing of books. If he lived now, he would decry the endless cacophony of electronic verbiage. Page after page of endless, mindless tripe. People selling something; people saying something. No body reading anything! If the page doesn't have pictures, [click] the viewer is gone. Everyone is looking for entertainment. No one is looking for substance. But we keep on writing and we think someone will read it. Oh, how we deceive ourselves -- convinced of our own immortality. Words, words, words . . . - cominus
Collapse or Restoration?
People are scared, hungry and hurting. They want to know what God has to say. Now is the time to speak, to stand, to raise the banner.
Here is David . . .
Recently, I wrote that America was facing “certain demise if left in the hands of the foolish and unenlightened secular regressives in America.”
The Wall Street Journal also recently reported on a Russian Professor who openly predicts that America as we know it will collapse in June or July of 2010, “due to mass immigration, economic decline, and moral degradation.” While many Americans in the past would find this humorous, not so today. Anyone with a lick of sense can see that the massive problems we face can be directly traced to the determined efforts of special interest groups and politicians to pick our pockets, redefine marriage, and the family, circumvent the Constitution, destroy our morals, ignore business ethics, and run away from dealing with illegal immigration.
But wait. God in His sovereignty over the affairs of men, does not find His hands tied by the foolishness of men. He works through events, suffering, and eye opening experiences.
In today’s Breakpoint Commentary, Mark Early, Prison Fellowship President, reports that church attendance in Evangelical Churches in the Northeast of all places, has skyrocketed since the financial debacle in September and October. He quotes one former Morgan Stanley manager who said his experience led to a “deeper sense of ‘God’s authority over everything.”
Focus on the Family reported today, in a truly ‘eye opening’ experience with young women contemplating an abortion, that an estimated 63,000 lives have been saved through their Option Ultrasound Program. One young woman said,
“Seeing my baby on ultrasound made me look at my pregnancy in a different way. I mostly remember seeing his teeny, tiny heart beating so fast. It was real and it was in me!”
The real ‘change’ that is occurring in America is not a result of the continuing secular deceptions of unenlightened politicians, liberal professors, wall street hucksters, and secular special interest groups. It is change that occurs in the mind and hearts of people when they see the truth.
It is my prayer that millions of Christians across this great nation will see for themselves in the coming months the folly of placing our trust in secular government, leftist intellectuals, the Supreme Court, the media, the banks, the military, the stock market, contrived and phony religion, or any other God ignoring entity.
The America our Founders won for us cannot be restored unless the Church, the Body of Christ, is first revived through a rededication and commitment to the eternal God, His Living and written Word; confess our sin, truly repent, and courageously stand, as did our Founding Fathers, without embarrassment or fear.
2010? What will it bring? ‘Collapse’? Further degeneration? Or Restoration?!
Go to RestoreAmerica.org and support the work financially so they can get the message of Jesus Christ out to every arena of society and government.
“Our nation is in this crisis precisely because we’ve traded in a Christian worldview of work, thrift, savings, and prudence, and instead have embraced the false worldview of consumerism-of leisure, debt, and instant gratification. That’s a false worldview, and it leads to the worst kind of idolatries. And it will also lead to our self-destruction. And insofar as we Christians have abandoned our heritage and have bought into the idolatry of consumerism, we have betrayed not only our God, but the nation we love.” – Chuck Colson – Breakpoint – December 30, 2008
