See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ. . . who is the head over every power and authority. [Col 2:8-10 NIV]

The Obama Blagojevich Connection

Monday, December 15th, 2008

This is from David Crowe, RestoreAmerica.org

“In Chicago, January 2003, Barack Obama was chairman of The (State) Senate Health & Human Services Committee and played a major role in pushing through Senate Bill 1332.  The Bill reduced the number of (Planning) Board members from 15 to 9, making votes easier to pass. Board members would be appointed by Governor Blagojevich.” (Hilites mine - Crowe)

“Stuart Levine sought Board reappointment and told Blagojevich he would vote however they wanted when approving projects.”

“Jennifer Thomas, a former Blagojevich aide, testified that she attended weekly meetings at Tony Rezko’s office between spring 2003 and November 2004 where Rezko said Levine should be reappointed.” (Blagojevich and Rezko were working together and it appears that Obama was either knowingly involved or extremely naieve and easily duped.)

Lawyers For Liberty

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008

This just came in today. Last night, I was talking with the registered agent for Judicial Forum and suggested we allow the corporate registration to lapse. So, while Judicial Forum is fazing out, another conservative group is being formed.

The last few years have seen several “conservative” judicial watch organizations form. All of them proved to be anything but conservative. This organization, while not Biblically based, will likely prove their mettle as conservative. The head of this group is Justice Richard Sanders and the members are lawyers who support Ron Paul. This will be an interesting group to watch and I will be looking forward to their reports.

Here is the first:

Portland Gun Show

Sunday, November 23rd, 2008

By Dennis Justice

Went to the Portland gun show Friday, 11/21.  Hadn’t been there for several years. So there things were a bit different than I remembered.

On the scene at 11:15 AM.  Ticket windows weren’t open until Noon.  Was just about to leave to find some coffee.  Turned around, looked, and the lobby was PACKED with people.  About that time a security guard had us split up into 3 lines.  Finally got tickets, went outside to have a smoke.  By then the line waiting to get in was not only out the door, but all the way to the next building and beyond.

This show isn’t as big as it used to be.  But there was a LOT of stuff there.  Quite a bit that I wasn’t expecting.  Manufacturers of AR15s, FALs, etc. cannot keep up with the orders they are taking.  So was surprised at the quantity available.  And the prices hadn’t gone through the roof as expected.  That probably won’t last.

There are a couple outfits that sell lots of hand guns at this show.  They were selling LOTS of hand guns.  Lines of people waiting to do paperwork.Reloading components were there, but much thinner than years past.  I didn’t see what I specifically was looking for.  Glad I didn’t really need anything.

The big news was the ammo sellers.  Three outfits with BIG displays.  Didn’t even try to see what they had early on.  They were MOBBED.  Ammo was leaving that show by the hand truck and 4 wheel dolly load.  Interestingly, the guys buying the most ammo were my age (59) and older.  Must be the 3 percenters.

When the doors opened at noon, people flooded the place.  You could move down the aisles, but it was crowded.  By 3:00 half the crowd was gone with most of the ammo.  By 5:00 the ammo vendors were calling their suppliers hoping to replenish stocks.  Remember, this was the first day of a 3-day show.  A Friday.  A work day.

This may have been the real election day of 2008.

Messiah Without Miracles

Sunday, November 16th, 2008

The 12 November issue of Adam Wilson’s blog at The Olympian begins with, “If you want a pick-me-up do not read the latest state revenue report. It’s a smorgasbord of negative numbers.” Then he continues with a list of lowered collections for Washington State tax revenues. I am sure he speaks for the majority when he expresses his concern over State monies. Not long ago, I would have thought the majority of people were more concerned with their own financial condition than they were with the State, but now I am having second thoughts.

You can see almost anything you want on YouTube. Most of us have seen the video of the Obama supporter who was elated with the election results because now she does not have to worry about how she is going to pay for her gas and her mortgage.

Cory the Well Driller Has Some Questions for Obama

Saturday, November 1st, 2008

By Cory Miller

Mr. Obama,

Given the uproar about the simple question asked you by Joe the plumber, and the persecution that has been heaped on him because he dared to question you, I find myself motivated to say a few things to you myself. While Joe aspires to start a business someday, I already have started not one, but 4businesses. But first, let me introduce myself. You can call me ‘Cory the well driller’. I am a 54 year old high school graduate. I didn’t go to college like you, I was too ready to go ‘conquer the world’ when I finished high school. 25 years ago at age 29, I started my own water well drilling business at a time when the economy here in East Texas was in a tailspin from the crash of the early 80’s oil boom. I didn’t get any help from the government, nor did I look for any. I borrowed what I could from my sister, my uncle, and even the pawn shop and managed to scrape together a homemade drill rig and a few tools to do my first job. My businesses did not start as a result of privilege. They are the result of my personal drive, personal ambition, self discipline, self reliance, and a determination to treat my customers fairly. From the very start my business provided one other (than myself) East Texan a full time job. I couldn’t afford a backhoe the first few years (something every well drilling business had), so I and my helper had to dig the mud pits that are necessary for each and every job with hand shovels. I had to use my 10 year old, 1/2 ton pickup truck for my water tank truck (normally a job for at least a 2 ton truck).

A Watchman Warning Re the Election of Barack Obama

Thursday, October 30th, 2008

By David Crowe

Why I must speak out against the Election of Barak Hussein Obama to The Presidency of the United States

An important role of Pastors, Priests, Rabbis, and “Watchmen” in the Scripture is to guard the sheep by sounding the alarm (Ezekiel 34) when there is a threat to the well being of those they shepherd.  Those of us who are called by God as Shepherds will be accountable to God for whether we do-or do not-exercise that responsibility (Ezekiel 33). We are to “speak truth to power” as did Moses, Elijah, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Daniel, John the Baptist, Jesus, Peter, Stephen, and Paul, with all courage and boldness.

As The Apostle Peter said in Acts 5:29, “We must obey God rather than men.”

The Truth About Obama is He Does Not Tell The Truth

Monday, October 27th, 2008

From: Michael Master
To: Barack  Obama,

The New York Times carried a story on Saturday, October 4, 2008 that proved you had a significantly closer relationship with Bill Ayers than what you previously admitted.   While the issue of your relationship is of concern, the greater concern is that you lied to America about it.

The Chicago Sun reported on May 8, 2008 that FBI records showed that you had a significantly closer relationship with Tony Rezko than what you previously admitted.   In the interview, you said that you only saw Mr. Rezko a couple of times a year.   The FBI files showed that you saw him weekly.  While the issue of your relationship is of concern, the greater concern is that you lied to America about it.

Washington State: Vote Against Initiative 1000

Monday, October 27th, 2008

This is a statement written by Arthur Coday, Jr., M.D. You need to read this before voting on I-1000. Here is an excerpt:

A look at recent American history shows progression in the killing of innocent human life.  It started with the legalization of abortion on demand in 1973 and progressed to the legalization of physician assisted suicide in Oregon in 1998.  If legalized generally in America, the proponents of death will call for euthanasia of increasingly broader groups of people, starting with the most vulnerable.  This would potentially include the permanently disabled and the mentally incompetent.  The proponents of death will deny that killing these people is euthanasia.  Instead, they will say it is assisted suicide, because these vulnerable persons would have wanted to die if they were rational, as their lives were not worth living.  Killing them would be nothing more than acting on their behalf.  And so the wave of death will continue to spread out concentrically across society until the latter collapses.

Sali votes against Bailout II

Friday, October 3rd, 2008

WASHINGTON, D.C. - For the second time this week, Congressman Bill Sali cast a vote against a $700 billion taxpayer-funded economic bailout.

H.R. 1424, the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act, passed by a vote of 263-171 and is now headed to President Bush, who is expected to sign the bill into law. Sali released this statement after the vote:

“These are urgent times that demand wise and decisive action.  The notion that Congress must do ‘something’ cannot be substituted for the obligation for Congress to do the right thing.  This bill was not the right prescription to fix our current credit crisis and I could not support this landmark and terribly mistaken legislation. Prayer Guide For The Presidential Election

Tuesday, September 16th, 2008

[this just in . . . via email from a Christian friend]

It is critical that Christians pray for the coming presidential election.  There is amazing power in united prayer.  Please print out this prayer guide and pray daily until the election.  Pray with others whenever possible.  The power of prayer can overcome any obstacle or ungodly influence and, indeed, do great things!  Please forward this to every Christian you know.

08/01–08/07 Psalm 32:6-11 - Pray that Christians will be motivated to pray faithfully for this election and that the Lord would deliver us from the wrong leaders.

08/08–08/14 Psalm 16:7-8 - Pray that the Lord would give wise counsel and guidance to His choice for president in this campaign.

08/15–08/21 Proverbs 16:12-16 - Pray that our nation will listen to the truth and not be led astray.

08/22–08/28 Psalm 18:32-36 - Pray that the Lord would arm the man of His choice with strength; that He would guide him in battle (this election), and that He would sustain him and give him victory.

08/29–09/04 Hebrews 11:32-34 – Pray that God’s man could, through faith, persevere and maintain his courage throughout this election.

09/05–09/11 Psalm 125 - Pray that those who trust in the Lord will not be shaken.

09/12-09/18 Psalm 86:14-17 - Pray that the Lord would defeat those who have no regard for Him in this election.

09/19-09/25 2Cor 12:9 – Pray that the Lord would empower and enable his man in any area of weakness.

09/26-10/02 II Kings 13:16 - Pray that the Lord would put His hands on the man of His choice for president (and his team) and guide them in this election.

10/03-10/09 Proverbs 1:5-7 - Pray that God’s man will listen with discernment, add to his knowledge, and receive wise counsel in this campaign.

10/10-10/16 John 16:33 - Pray that the man of God’s choice would be given wisdom and ability from the Lord to overcome any obstacle or difficulty during this campaign.

10/17-10/23 Acts 17:30 - Pray for repentance for yourself and for our nation.

10/24-10/30 Luke 12:54-57 – Pray that God’s man and our nation will be discerning and do what is right.

10/31-11/06 Phil. 4:13 - Pray that the Lord’s choice for President will have special strength and unusual ability from God.

11/07-11/11 Habakkuk 1:5 and 3:2 - Pray that the Lord would do something that would utterly amaze us and give His servant victory.

During the days of Nov. 7 - 11, be encouraged to set aside a time of fasting during these days to commit this election to the Lord in whom we put our trust.  Acts 14:23

Remember 2Chronicle 7:14: ‘If My people who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.’    And, The USA sure needs the Lord’s healing!!

Charlie Gibson Misquotes Palin on Prayer and the War

Tuesday, September 16th, 2008

[this is an excerpt from Idaho Values Alliance newsletter - 15 Sep 2008]

Although this will not come as a surprise to citizens who have a working familiarity with the leftwing bias of Old Media, ABC’s Charlie Gibson completely misrepresented Gov. Sarah Palin’s remarks about prayer and the war effort in his much publicized interview with her, then tried to use his misquote against her.

Here’s the transcript:

Why Pragmatism is Not Compatible With Christian Principle

Friday, September 5th, 2008

This is a classic reprise reprinted from Tandem Vincitur, July 1997 (copyright by Dean Isaacson). It has been reprinted by others almost every election cycle and stolen by some (by that I mean they stole several paragraphs without credit and put their copyright over my work). My policy is anyone may reprint any of my work, in whole or in part, as long as they credit the source (url, book, etc) and do not place their copyright over it.

Since we are firmly within another election cycle, I thought it timely to reprint it. It is also available in our section “Cominus Papers” (see menu). Here is the ancient article:

Our elected officials and bureaucrats are dealing away our rights and freedoms like they are in some kind of a global crap game. In 1994, we said we were going to turn things around with the “Republican Revolution” but the game goes on as before. The players change and the leadership–if that’s what you call it–take on new faces. Where have the Republicans even begun to roll back unbridled bureaucracies? overweening government? and the rise of globalism? They have not. Instead they have sent new mandates to the States restricting our first and second amendments, expanding the role of government in education and now giving us ID cards.

Senator Orrin Hatch chairs the powerful judiciary committee of the Senate. It is this committee’s responsibility to evaluate the judicial nominations of the President. On one occasion when Mr. Hatch was speaking before the Heritage Foundation, he warned the audience of the activist judges that Clinton had appointed–that is, he told the conservative audience what they wanted to hear. When one of the listeners pointed out that Mr. Hatch voted for the last eighty-three out of eighty-five appointees, he left in disgust.

He is not alone. Many of our most sacred of candidates will speak the conservative line while voting for legislation that expands the size of civil government, increases spending and brings us into the New World Order. Linda Smith voted for the Careers Bill, the Terrorist Bill and the like. Now she is telling general audiences that she is working to make government better. What happened to smaller?

What is True Leadership

Sunday, August 31st, 2008

Yesterday’s post reviewed the appointment of Sarah Palin as John McCain’s VP choice and running mate. She is a true leader - and we excerpted from her acceptance speech what she said about leadership and how most politicians nowadays are not willing to take risks.

Today, I was mulling through some old documents, looking for an article, or some thoughts to post. I ran across a letter I wrote to the editor of the Seattle Times. It is from 1998 and is in reference to the state legislature sitting on their hands on Partial Birth Abortion.

A man’s principle goes beyond words, it goes to the core of what he is willing to fight for. It is disquieting to the Republican grassroots to watch their “leaders” melt into a sea of facilitation and administration. We have a majority party that is unwilling to lead. Is it surprising to see an ever-increasing exodus from the Party by principled people? No, it is not. And to the extent the Republican “leadership” is more concerned with self-esteem than leading, the exodus will increase exponentially.

The Gap Between John McCain and Obama is Widening

Saturday, August 30th, 2008

A couple days ago, a key legislative aid for a local congressman and I were discussing the upcoming Presidential Election. We were both lamenting that if John McCain continued to kick in the teeth of the conservatives, he was going to lose this election for sure. And the two of us were probably not going to vote for a president at all.

It is just amazing that McCain has been given this election on a silver platter and he has done nothing to take advantagage of it. While Obama is strutting around like some love child messiah, McCain could blow the whole facade with just two clear sentences of substance. Instead, he uses his every opportunity to take another swipe at his base. And in fact, that almost appears what he meant to do when he announced Sarah Palin as his running mate. He mentioned all the wrong, polically correct reasons why he chose her - as if to diss the conservatives, once again, and appeal instead to the disenfranchised Hillary groupies.
