She has repeatedly told me I was born on Thanksgiving and what a wonderful blah blah blah, etc. But I looked on a calendar today – just to confirm it was so and found out I was either born the day before Thanksgiving, or I was born a year later.

Being born a year later presents problems because that runs me right at eight months before my sister was born. Not that this is impossible: my folks had eight kids (born live – ten altogether) so I know they worked at it. And, my sister has always been small for her age!

Nonetheless, I always thought at age 21, or somewhere around there, parents always came clean. “Son, you really weren’t adopted – we just said that to get you to eat your vegetables.” OR “Son, you really weren’t born on Thanksgiving. You were born the day before. Please forgive us, it is just that it always made such a nice story.”

Still, I am not certain about the adoption part.

However, I wanted my grandson to be born on Thanksgiving. Then both grandpa and grandson would have had this same something, legacy or something the reverse of that. Someone grab a dictionary, please.

So, now the only way to perpetuate the fraud is to tell my grandson he was born on Thanksgiving. It was an unusual year – Thanksgiving on November 9th!

Anyway, by the time he is 57 and uncovers the lie – I will be long gone.

Jack Case and Rex, the Wonder Horse, should be an American institution. As it is, few people have heard of Jack Case.

He was the father of my friend, Jackie Juntti. In the thirties and forties, he was a favorite at rodeos all across the nation. He was a stunt man and double for Tom Mix and he and Rex were on many television shows. He married Helen Beck and she starred with him in his famous cowboy acts.

A while back, Jackie asked if I could get photos of her dad up on the web. So I built a website, JackCase.com. The background of the site is the letterhead for Jack Case’s rodeo business. The menu is stacked above the original left column, with artwork matching the original. However, the menu does not work in IE6.x or lower. So, we placed an additional menu to the right of the stationary. This is a work in progress and if you visit from time-to-time, you will find more images for your viewing pleasure.

Surf on over and take a look at the site.

The URL is: http://jackcase.com/jack-case/
