A Call To Prayer

This is from David Crowe, RestoreAmerica.org. He speaks after my own heart.

“So I gave my attention to the Lord God to seek Him by prayer and supplications, with fasting, sackcloth, and ashes. And I prayed to the LORD my God and confessed and said, “Alas, O Lord, the great and awesome God, who keeps His Covenant and lovingkindness for those who love Him and keep His commandments, we have sinned, committed iniquity, acted wickedly, and rebelled, even turning aside from Thy commandments and ordinances.” – Daniel 9:3-5

Abba Father, all knowing, all wise, patient beyond comprehension, forgive us for turning aside from you as a people and as a nation. We are so easily and unwittingly given to love the world and things of the world, even as we profess to love You. Draw us again to be attentive to the words of the prophets lest we perish foolishly, needlessly, consumed with the trinkets, pursuits and pleasures of those who are lost and overtaken by their sin. Awaken in us dear LORD, a hunger to seek you anew and afresh; to examine our lives in quietness; to come before You in spirit and truth and listen to what you would speak to us. Come tenderly to us in those moments dear LORD. Speak in the quietness, as we confess our sin, our rebellion, and daily willfulness. Shine the light of your loving kindness upon us as we come to you in brokenness, hungry for your voice, your love, and fatherly counsel. May we hear afresh and anew, and heed what you say to us, in humility and determination to walk a different path. May we not ‘try harder’ but instead yield more completely to the only One who can give us meaning, joy, and hope in the midst of this fallen, hopeless world. We love You and need You every day and every moment of our day. May we turn away from our sin and willfulness. Walk with us dearest LORD. Speak tenderly to your children, as we walk with You anew and afresh, with courage and confidence. . . In our Savior’s Name, the only Name under heaven whereby we must be saved, Jesus of Nazareth. Amen

Please continue to pray that . . .
• Christians will not fear man, but honor and exalt the Prince of Peace at all times and in all places, with confidence and boldness
• We will proclaim the knowledge of salvation, the forgiveness of sins, and God’s tender mercies at home, in the workplace, in our schools, and at ‘the gates’
• We will walk in the light as He is in the light, with courage, conviction, boldness, and grace
• He will guide our thoughts, our words, and our feet, in truth, as citizens
• Christians throughout America will fulfill their ‘salt and light’ citizenship responsibility in restoring the nation “Under God”
• Our Christian leaders will call the nation to prayer, cry out as never before in repentance, and courageously shepherd their people in the power of the Holy Spirt
• Our pulpits would again be ‘on fire for righteousness’
• Our pastors and the people would once again call our elected officials to respect eternal truth to the glory of God and the blessing of mankind
• God’s people will repent of their worldliness, self absorption, apathy and indifference to the Word of God and their citizenship responsibility
• Christians across the nation will pray for this President, his advisors, his cabinet, and our elected officials in both Houses of Congress
• Elected and unelected officials will be prevented from doing evil, ignoring eternal principles, and remaining in office if they implement laws destructive to human life, marriage, the family, and the exercise of our God given freedoms of speech, conscience, and the pursuit of happiness
• Israel will prevail in her righteous cause and that the God of Heaven will protect and preserve her until the Day of Jesus Christ
• We, His people, will believe once again that He “is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think according to the power that works within us” (Ephesians 3:20)

Solomon wrote there will be no end of the writing of books. If he lived now, he would decry the endless cacophony of electronic verbiage. Page after page of endless, mindless tripe. People selling something; people saying something. No body reading anything! If the page doesn't have pictures, [click] the viewer is gone. Everyone is looking for entertainment. No one is looking for substance. But we keep on writing and we think someone will read it. Oh, how we deceive ourselves -- convinced of our own immortality. Words, words, words . . . - cominus
