See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ. . . who is the head over every power and authority. [Col 2:8-10 NIV]

A Watchman Warning Re the Election of Barack Obama

Thursday, October 30th, 2008

By David Crowe

Why I must speak out against the Election of Barak Hussein Obama to The Presidency of the United States

An important role of Pastors, Priests, Rabbis, and “Watchmen” in the Scripture is to guard the sheep by sounding the alarm (Ezekiel 34) when there is a threat to the well being of those they shepherd.  Those of us who are called by God as Shepherds will be accountable to God for whether we do-or do not-exercise that responsibility (Ezekiel 33). We are to “speak truth to power” as did Moses, Elijah, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Daniel, John the Baptist, Jesus, Peter, Stephen, and Paul, with all courage and boldness.

As The Apostle Peter said in Acts 5:29, “We must obey God rather than men.”

The Truth About Obama is He Does Not Tell The Truth

Monday, October 27th, 2008

From: Michael Master
To: Barack  Obama,

The New York Times carried a story on Saturday, October 4, 2008 that proved you had a significantly closer relationship with Bill Ayers than what you previously admitted.   While the issue of your relationship is of concern, the greater concern is that you lied to America about it.

The Chicago Sun reported on May 8, 2008 that FBI records showed that you had a significantly closer relationship with Tony Rezko than what you previously admitted.   In the interview, you said that you only saw Mr. Rezko a couple of times a year.   The FBI files showed that you saw him weekly.  While the issue of your relationship is of concern, the greater concern is that you lied to America about it.

Washington State: Vote Against Initiative 1000

Monday, October 27th, 2008

This is a statement written by Arthur Coday, Jr., M.D. You need to read this before voting on I-1000. Here is an excerpt:

A look at recent American history shows progression in the killing of innocent human life.  It started with the legalization of abortion on demand in 1973 and progressed to the legalization of physician assisted suicide in Oregon in 1998.  If legalized generally in America, the proponents of death will call for euthanasia of increasingly broader groups of people, starting with the most vulnerable.  This would potentially include the permanently disabled and the mentally incompetent.  The proponents of death will deny that killing these people is euthanasia.  Instead, they will say it is assisted suicide, because these vulnerable persons would have wanted to die if they were rational, as their lives were not worth living.  Killing them would be nothing more than acting on their behalf.  And so the wave of death will continue to spread out concentrically across society until the latter collapses.

The Subtle Power of Envy

Friday, October 24th, 2008

At breakfast the other morning, we were talking about the betrayal of Jesus Christ and His presentation before Pontius Pilate. Our study was from Matthew chapter twenty-seven. The church leaders and local politicians of the day, no matter the evidence, chose to ignore the deity of Christ and moved Pilate to execute Him.

It did not dissuade them that His betrayer, Judas, gave them their money back! They hated Christ so much, they even claimed they were willing to bear the curse for slaying innocent blood, and even pass that curse down to their children, when Pilate disclaimed all responsibility for executing an innocent man.

“Envy,” exclaimed Hal. “Nothing but pure envy.” After a brief pause, he continued, “Envy is a great evil and it can lead one to murder. There is no other sin like envy. . . but what is it? What, really, is envy?”

365 Heavenly Ways to Market Your Christian Book

Sunday, October 12th, 2008

This is Bette Filley’s latest book and it is based around two premises: First, Christian bookstores are not likely to carry or promote a book written by an unknown Christian author; and Second, if you write a book and want to get it sold, you are going to have to work for it.

Writing a book is a daunting task in itself, marketing it can become overwhelming. I remember when writing two books in 1995 and 2000. There was so much research to do just to get the books printed and to market. What I learned during the first episode I had forgotten by the second. While reading 365 Heavenly Ways to Market Your Christian Book, my mind kept traveling back to all the hours-upon-hours of research and work to get my book to market - and here Bette has it all laid out in a simple to read and easy to grasp fashion.

Why I Am No Longer Selling On eBay

Saturday, October 4th, 2008

[click on the image for a larger view] It is clear from this image, my ratings are higher than eBay averages in every category, yet eBay claims I am failing in policy compliance. I tried to negotiate with them, but they will not talk - except for the form letter that talked down to me claiming they will review my account if I improve my performance. They are big and they don’t care.

Several friends and acquaintances of mine who have been active with eBay are now pulling out. Some cite policy changes and the fact that sellers can no longer leave negative feedback for buyers (but buyers can still leave negative feedback for sellers). Some cite their scalping fees, which continue to climb. Even when they go down - they go up. Right now insertion fees are down, but selling fees are all over the map, depending upon the type of product - and it can be as high as fifteen percent. They don’t make it easy, and if you blink, you get scalped.   (more…)

Sali votes against Bailout II

Friday, October 3rd, 2008

WASHINGTON, D.C. - For the second time this week, Congressman Bill Sali cast a vote against a $700 billion taxpayer-funded economic bailout.

H.R. 1424, the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act, passed by a vote of 263-171 and is now headed to President Bush, who is expected to sign the bill into law. Sali released this statement after the vote:

“These are urgent times that demand wise and decisive action.  The notion that Congress must do ‘something’ cannot be substituted for the obligation for Congress to do the right thing.  This bill was not the right prescription to fix our current credit crisis and I could not support this landmark and terribly mistaken legislation.
